State of the Person

To mimic the federal government it might be useful for each of us to analyse and
sum up our own state of affairs after passage of another year.
We all long for the past days when we could each be masters of our own fates. We
could work where, and at what we pleased. We were free souls in control of our
family destinies. The overall economy was capable of supplying jobs to a growing population and America was the economic colossus and model of free enterprise.
But the rest of the world took advantage of the continuing technological revolution
by educating its children for the new global economy, in the process attracting
American capital and manufacturing operations. With the disappearance of our
industrial base the plenitude of jobs was replaced by chronic unemployment.
There are among us people who are entrepreneurs and self employed. Their job
security lies in special skills and talents for which demand will always exceed supply. This group represented the elite of the middle class, now a remnant of
what was the main support of our consumption based economy.
To bring back the past by recalling our industrial base or limiting wages, benefits
and labor laws to the standards in the low labor cost venues is no option. We must
strike out into another direction--joining the new world of green life style. In
that new world, our productive workforce and technological brains inventory
can make us a world leader once more. Subservience to the special interests that
have locked our policies into the past, must end. We are blessed with a large territory on which sunlight falls, huge borders on seas whose tides can generate energy, with broad expanses of prairie for wind generators, and enormous arable
land surface to grow bio-fuels. Why don't we exploit these wondrous gifts from
nature to improve our economy, while benefitting the entire human population?

Nanotechnology is America's future if only we are willing to fully develop the mechanisms and not give it away to other countries before we have at least attempted to use it ourselves.

Bio-fuels only delay the effects of our polluting ways. Also, bio-fuels rob our ability to feed a hungry world with the basic foods all of us need to survive. Let grains nurture the masses rather than fuel our SUVs. Without a healthy humanity there is no need for a "Green alternative" fuel source.

Our thinking is still very GM; a mechanical engine that converts carbon-based fuels into pollution and some physical torque. Nanotech clearly demonstrates that sub-atomic structures are fully capable of extremely efficient physical force without any abnormal emissions.

We have the great frontier of science on our side and are at a point where a gigantic explosion of innovation is ready to be exploited. Are we ready to put away our traditional thinking and exploit the new possibilities?

Marty,

First, the very high unemployment rate is NOT CHRONIC. It began with the concept of government control of industry (GM & Chrysler) and the constant demonetization of our financial industry by a socialistic horror of an administration bent on the destruction of private enterprise and capitalism known as the Obama administration.FEAR is the operative word for business's relationship with the Federal Government in 2011 and it will only get worse if Obama continues on his current track. Judge Sotomayor recognised her assumption of Justice of the Supreme Court correctly when she declared herself as the "afermative action justice". She is smart enough to know what got her placed in that position. Obama on the other hand has no concept of his only redeaming asset being the need to elect an "Affermative Action" president to somehow extricate ourselves from past guilt. He is either to aregant or too ignorant to realize his own incompentance and inability to do the job as President of the strongest most productive Nation on the Planet. The pathotic rationalization that he presented to the world in his state of the union speach to congress has been followed by an equally pathatic handling of the Egyption Crisis. Who is this man? Who cares as long as he is out in two more years and good ridance to him. He may very well distroy Isreal before he leaves office. Not even you liberals have any respect left for him now. Even his health care bill was so carelessly written that it will fall entirely if one part falls. Of course I say thank God for that incompetence. LOL
